Radio Morena was the first radio station in Latin America to broadcast a 100% CD-based programming, beginning in 1991.
It was also the first to use only digitally mastered commercial breaks using a DigiCart II, since January 1994.
We play about 324 music tracks a day and we broadcast 24 hours a day, live, including on the web.
Radio Morena welcomes CDs from independent new artists, from any country.
Radio Morena has had a World Music programme and a Latin Pop programme since 1992.
Radio Morena invented the Mini-Prog, a radical new way to do programming.
It has the largest CD Library in Brazil with in excess of 9,000 CD's, or more than 140,000 tracks.
Radio Morena is the Brazilian Star Correspondent on the Radio Express' World Chart Show.
It's the only pop station in Bahia to broadcast both Jazz & Blues, as well as Classical Music programmes.
It was the first station in Bahia with an internet website and the first in the region to broadcast live on the net.
Radio Morena launched the Jupara Project in 1993 to promote regional artists, now called Grapiuna artists. The project is being copied by stations from other regions.
In 1994, it launched the Jupara Awards, to reward the best regional artists. Votes are cast directly by the public, utilizing a computerized system.
Radio Morena plays the music of new, talented artists, who lack CD's, using the Digicart II system.
Radio Morena owns a small record label and a music publishing firm, Jupara Records. It has already produced six CD's featuring artists playing Grapiuna Music.
Radio Morena owns the leading regional newspaper, A Regiao, with about 90,000 readers.
Radio Morena is the regional leader with a 28.5% share of the listening audience. This compares with the average of 16.4%.
Its main news programme, Jornal das Sete, is the leading news resource in the South of the State of Bahia. In contrast to the majority of news organizations in Bahia, it boasts of a complete news team.
